The Town of The Blue Mountains encourages members of the community to participate in Pitch-In Canada Week, taking place from April 17 to April 23, 2022.
During this week, everyone across Canada is encouraged to pick up litter from parks, trails, shorelines and public spaces throughout their communities. Participating in Pitch-In Canada Week is also a great way to recognize Earth Day taking place on April 22, 2022.
Waste collection bags are available for free at Town Hall and at the Landfill & Recycling Depot, while supplies last. Once filled, waste collection bags can be placed curbside on your normal collection day. The bags will be collected free of charge, with no garbage tags necessary.
The Town also encourages Pitch-In Canada Week participants to separate any refundable containers from the collected litter, including wine, liquor and beer bottles, beer cans, plastic milk jugs and Millers Milk glass bottles, and deliver these materials to the Bottles for BVO apple bin located at the Beaver Valley Outreach, or The Blue Mountains Landfill and Recycling Depot. For more information, please visit Beaver Valley Outreach website.
When picking up litter, please consider your safety and the safety of others, and follow public health guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Download the Ontario Public Litter Cleanup Guide to help you collect litter safely. To learn more about Pitch-In Canada Week, please visit the Landfill & Recycling Depot webpage.
