The Craigleith Wastewater Treatment Plant (CWWTP) located on Long Point Road requires modifications and upgrades to meet the projected demands of the Craigleith area. In 2023, the Town completed a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment to evaluate and select the preferred solutions. These solutions are:

  • Design and construction of a new sewage lift station and septage receiving station at the CWWTP
  • Installation of new gravity sewer, and replacement of existing forcemain and watermain on Long Point Road between Highway 26 and the CWWTP
  • Implementation of various facility modifications and upgrades

Preliminary design and engineering has been completed. The Town released the RFP for the final design, tender preparation and contract administration in February 2025.

Why Now?

The Town’s sanitary sewer collection and pumping infrastructure within the Craigleith area requires upgrades and enhancements to meet the projected demands of growth in a sustainable manner.

Project Updates

January 9, 2026 - Preliminary design progressing

WT Infrastructure and the Town are progressing with the design of the Long Point Road Sewer and Craigleith Wastewater Treatment Plant upgrades. They are currently in the process of completing preliminary studies including site locates and a site survey, and expect to have the 30% design completed early this year.

Public Consultation

Two Public Information Centres were held during the Environmental Assessment process to select the preferred solutions. There are no additional Public Meetings or Information Centres expected to be held during the detailed and final design phases. Questions can be sent to the Town's Manager of Water & Wastewater.
