Primary Care & Team-Based Care

The Town of The Blue Mountains is supported by two Ontario Health Teams: the South Georgian Bay Ontario Health Team and the Grey Bruce Ontario Health Team.

Physicians practicing in our community may also join the Georgian Bay Family Health Team to access team-based primary care resources and interprofessional supports.

We understand every physician’s situation is different. Whether you’re completing residency, returning to practice, or relocating to The Blue Mountains, the Town can help you explore an incentive package and practice supports that fit your goals.
Income support while you build your roster
Eligible new physicians may be able to access Income Stabilization supports that provide more predictable monthly income in your first year of practice—helping reduce financial pressure while you establish your clinic and roster.
Provincial recruitment and retention programs
Given the community’s need for primary care, physicians may also be eligible to apply for the Province’s Northern and Rural Recruitment and Retention Initiative (NRRR).
Combined Support: Depending on eligibility and program requirements, physicians may be able to access up to $320,506.40 over their first four years of practice.
Local support to help you settle and succeed
In addition to provincial programs, the Town can assist with local support, such as:
- introductions to local health partners and clinic opportunities
- community orientation and settlement support (schools, childcare, housing resources)
- connections that support spouse/partner employment and community integration
*Incentive amounts are subject to change and depend on physician eligibility, practice model, and approval under applicable provincial programs. Estimates provided during recruitment discussions will be confirmed with the relevant program administrator(s).
Physicians practicing in our community have the opportunity to join the Georgian Bay Family Health Team to access team-based primary care resources and interprofessional supports.
There are two medical clinics in the Town:
- Blue Mountains Community Health Centre
- Clarksburg Medical Clinic
We can help connect interested physicians with local clinic opportunities and community partners based on your preferred model of practice.

A Central Hub for Regional Healthcare Access

The Blue Mountains offers physicians a centrally located base with convenient access to multiple acute care hospitals—supporting referrals, collaboration, and hospital-based opportunities.

Nearby hospitals include: Collingwood, Meaford, Owen Sound and Markdale.

All locations are within an easy drive of The Blue Mountains, helping you stay connected to regional services while enjoying a shorter commute at home.
