Notice of Community Engagement Session: Community Improvement Plan Review

Press Releases

The Town of The Blue Mountains, in collaboration with NPG Planning Solutions Inc., invites members of the public to attend an upcoming Community Engagement Session for the Community Improvement Plan (CIP) Review Project.

Event Details
Date: Wednesday, April 15, 2026
Time: 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Location: Town Hall, 32 Mill Street, Thornbury
Format: In-person

A Community Improvement Plan (CIP) is a planning tool that enables municipalities to support revitalization through targeted programs, grants and incentives that encourage economic and social improvements to the public realm. The CIP Review project will result in a new, comprehensive plan that integrates the Town’s existing CIP programs and ensures that future CIP goals and incentives align with the Town’s evolving needs and priorities.

Throughout early 2026, the project team has been advancing the Background Review and Study phase of the project, including the completion of a Background Report and Issues Memorandum. The Background Report is informed by two technical papers examining economic and housing trends in The Blue Mountains: an Economic Trends and Barriers Technical Paper prepared by Parcel Economics, and a Housing Needs and Trends Technical Paper prepared by Tim Welch Consulting Inc. This background research is a critical first step in ensuring the updated CIP is responsive to current and anticipated community needs.

The purpose of the Community Engagement Session is to present key findings from the Background Review and Study phase and gather community feedback to help inform the direction of the new CIP. The session will include a formal presentation, followed by a Question-and-Answer period and an informal opportunity for attendees to share feedback directly with project team members. This session is open to the public, and no pre-registration is required. For those unable to attend, a recording of the presentation and Q&A will be posted to the project webpage following the session.
