The Town of The Blue Mountains would like to advise residents of changes to the sample pick-up schedule for the Grey Bruce Public Health Unit's voluntary well water testing program.

Beginning in September, samples will be picked up weekly from Ravenna Hall at 10:00 a.m. each Thursday. The first day of the new pick-up schedule will be Thursday, September 3. Samples must be dropped off within 24 hours of the pick-up time. Ravenna Hall will be open for sample bottle pick-up or drop-off on Wednesdays from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Thursdays from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The Town of The Blue Mountains would like to advise the public of an upcoming temporary lane restriction. The restriction is scheduled to be in place at 21 Arthur Street West (Highway 26) in Thornbury on Thursday, August 27. This is to allow Aecon to complete a gas service replacement on behalf of Enbridge.

The Town of The Blue Mountains would like to advise residents that annual flushing, cleaning and inspections of sanitary and storm sewers will be conducted throughout Thornbury beginning in late August. Work is expected to be ongoing until late October.

The Town of The Blue Mountains would like to advise residents that on the morning of August 13, 2026, there was a temporary interruption in the water supply on the north side of Bay Street East, between Elgin Street and Grey Street, due to damage to the temporary water main. 

The Town’s Water Operations staff and contractor responded quickly to complete the necessary repairs, and water service has now been fully restored. 

The Town of The Blue Mountains would like to advise the public of upcoming construction activity. On behalf of Rogers Communications, HDP Network Solutions Inc. will be installing conduit for the Fibre-to-the-Home Program along Mission Road, 12th Sideroad and 3rd Line beginning as early as Monday, August 17, 2026. This work will include temporary lane closures at times with traffic control measures in place, and may also require brush clearing and tree trimming within the Town's road allowance.

The Town of The Blue Mountains would like to provide an update on the Thornbury Wastewater Treatment Plant Assembly and Installation project. 

A portion of the turbidity curtain system used to limit the spread of suspended sediment generated by dredging was damaged beyond repair by sustained high winds and wave action on Georgian Bay during the weekend of July 18-19. 

The Town of The Blue Mountains would like to advise the public of an ongoing temporary road closure. The closure is in place on 6th Line at Bridge 8, approximately 325 metres north of 12th Sideroad, from July 23 to August 7, 2026.

The Town of The Blue Mountains would like to advise the public that sidewalk inspections are scheduled to be conducted throughout the Town beginning before the end of June.

The inspections will be completed utilizing golf cart-mounted sensing technology by CleanCrete Cutting. The sensors identify trip hazards, cracks and other obstructions on sidewalks and walkways. Inspections will be taking place on priority and secondary sidewalks. Deficiencies will be marked with paint and repairs are expected to begin in mid August.

The Town of The Blue Mountains would like to advise the public that Watermark Solutions Limited will be completing a comprehensive Leak Detection Survey of the Town's water distribution network. Work will begin in Lora Bay and progress eastward through June and July.

The survey will pinpoint leaks on water transmission, distribution and service pipelines, including hydrants, valves and curbstops. The data collected will be used to assist the Town's Water Department in fixing watermain and service leaks to eliminate water loss.
