Traffic Safety Issue Reporting Now Available Through Municipal Service Requests

Press Releases

The Town of The Blue Mountains would like to advise residents that traffic safety concerns can now be reported online through the existing Municipal Service Request form.

The new “Traffic Safety Issue” reporting option has been added to collect location-based data to support the Town’s traffic safety reviews. This information can support future assessments relating to speed management, traffic calming, pedestrian and cyclist safety, visibility, Community Safety Zones and other road safety matters.

Residents can report concerns such as near misses, close calls, recurring traffic safety concerns, visibility issues and other conditions that may pose a risk to road users. When submitting a request, residents are encouraged to include the location, a description of the concern and the time or conditions when it typically occurs. Staff will use this information to help identify recurring concerns and determine where field observations or further data collection may be appropriate.

This form does not replace police reporting. In the event of an emergency or immediate danger, residents are encouraged to call 9-1-1. Driving complaints requiring police attention should be reported directly to the OPP at 1-888-310-1122, or through the OPP’s online reporting system.

About the Community Safety Zone Policy

The new Community Safety Zone Policy has been developed to establish a consistent and evidence-based process for evaluating and designating Community Safety Zones within the Town. Community Safey Zones are intended to improve safety for all road users, particularly in areas with significant pedestrian, cyclist or seasonal traffic activity. Public feedback on the draft policy was received at a formal Public Meeting on September 1, 2026, and presented to Committee of the Whole through Staff Report OPS.26.048. The final policy was adopted by Council at their meeting on September 28, 2026.
