The Town of The Blue Mountains would like to advise residents of upcoming service changes during the Holiday Season. 

Town Hall

Town Hall will be closed from 12 p.m. on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, until Friday, January 2, 2026. Town Hall will re-open with regular hours on Monday, January 5, 2026.

Waste Collection

There will be no curbside waste collection on Thursday, December 25. Collection services will resume on Friday, December 26, with each subsequent collection date shifted to the following day.

There will be no curbside waste collection on Thursday, January 1. Collection services will resume on Friday, January 2, with each subsequent collection date shifted to the following day.

 Operations staff have provided additional reminders regarding collection:

  • Christmas Tree Collection is from January 5 to January 16 on your usual day of collection. Trees must be curbside by 7 a.m. with no plastic bags or decorations, and free of snow
  • Please ensure your garbage box is accessible and clear of snow for waste collection
  • Please do not place your garbage within the road
  • First garbage bag is free, second bag must be tagged, third bag must have two tags
  • Bags can weigh up to 20 kgs (45 lbs)
  • When waste collection service is disrupted, double the limit will be collected on your next collection day

 The Town Waste Disposal Site will be closed on Thursday, December 25 and Thursday, January 1.

The Blue Mountains Public Library

The Blue Mountains Public Library (173 Bruce Street S.) and Craigleith Heritage Depot Museum and Archive (113 Lakeshore Road E.) will be closed from Wednesday, December 24, to Friday, December 26. Both branches will re-open with regular hours on Saturday, December 27, 2025. The Library and Depot will also be closed on Thursday, January 1, 2026, and will reopen on Friday, January 2, 2026. During this closure, we invite you to explore our digital collections, databases and online exhibits anytime by visiting www.thebluemountainslibrary.ca.

Beaver Valley Community Centre & Arena

The Beaver Valley Community Centre will be closed as of 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 24. There will be no Adult Skate or Stick and Puck programming on Wednesday, December 24. 

The Beaver Valley Community Centre will also be closed on Thursday, December 25, Friday, December 26 and Thursday, January 1.

Winter Parking Restrictions and Snow Removal

The Town would like to remind residents that Winter Parking Restrictions are currently in effect. In accordance with Town By-law No. 2022-49, overnight parking is prohibited on all Town streets from 2:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. until April 15, 2026. 

In addition, residents are reminded that Town By-law No. 2014-65 prohibits the deposit of snow or ice onto a Town roadway, including the shoulder, sidewalk, walkway, boulevard or ditch, without written permission from the Director of Operations. Residents are also asked to remove items from the roadside, including basketball nets, hockey nets, boats and trailers, landscaping items or any other items that may interfere with snow removal operations.

Winter parking and snow removal restrictions are necessary to help ensure that snow removal operations can be completed safely and effectively.
