On behalf of the Town of the Blue Mountains, WT Infrastructure Solution Inc. has completed the design and engineering for the replacement of watermain and sanitary servicing upgrades on Birch View Trail, in Craigleith. The project has been tendered and awarded to SMRS Construction. Construction is anticipated to begin in August 2022. Construction activity will be occurring at the intersection of Birch View Trail and Arlberg Crescent and north to the crescent end of Birch View Trail.

Project Scope
- The installation of a new gravity sanitary sewers;
- The installation of a new low pressure sanitary forcemain;
- Replacement of a section of the existing watermain;
- New gravity or pressurized sanitary service connections to the property line;
- New water service connections to the property line for homes connected to the sections of the watermain being replaced;
- Reinstatement to existing conditions.
What To Expect
You may experience traffic delays, lane restrictions, service interruptions, dust, noise, vibrations, and other inconveniences during construction. The Town will make efforts to reduce the impacts. We appreciate your patience.
Works will be occurring within Town property. Should you have any concerns during construction, please contact the Field Ambassador. The Town will not be responsible for damage to any privately owned items on Town property.
Work Hours
Work will take place Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Work after hours, on statutory holidays or on weekends will be completed only if necessary and as required. The Contractor will be required to request approval from Town Council prior to completing any work outside of regular hours.
Service Interruptions
Water service may be temporarily interrupted at times throughout the duration of the project. Impacted residents will be notified in writing in advance of any interruptions.
Road Access
In order to complete the work in a safe manner, there will be restrictions and temporary closures on the road within the construction work zone. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Driveway Access
The contractor will notify you of any temporary restrictions to your driveway access.
Traffic Management
Minor traffic delays will occur within the construction zone when active construction is occurring. Residents will be notified in advance if their property will have significantly restricted access during construction.
Parking
Street parking in the active work zone is not permitted due to space requirements for construction equipment and materials.
Garbage and Recycling
Please follow your normal routine for garbage and recycling collection. If required, the contractor will move bins to an appropriate location and return them. Please ensure that you label your bins with your address.
Restoration
The construction work area will be restored to pre-existing conditions including laying of sod, hydroseed or asphalt where required. Granular driveways and shoulders will be restored where they presently exist. Laying of sod will be done as needed during ideal growing seasons only.
Additional Information
Our Field Ambassador will be reaching out to residents to confirm the locations of sanitary services to each property line to coordinate with the private servicing to be completed by each resident on their property beyond the property line.
