The Town of The Blue Mountains is excited to share a project update and information about upcoming Council workshops for the Corporate Strategic Plan project.
Launched earlier this year, the Corporate Strategic Plan project is focused on establishing the Town's long-term vision, mission, and priorities, to ensure effective resource allocation to support the Town's future. The project has been informed by residents and stakeholders through a comprehensive engagement process, which has included a community open house, an opportunity-based community survey, multiple focus group sessions and various public engagement pop-ups at community events.
A workshop with Council members was held on July 17, 2025, to help shape the first draft of the plan's vision, mission, and priorities. Throughout the summer, the project consultant StrategyCorp, led by Sabine Matheson and Stacy Hushion, have been working with Town staff to identify potential priorities and action items.
A second workshop with Council has been scheduled for Tuesday, September 9, 2025, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m., at the Beaver Valley Community Centre. The workshop is being held to confirm the vision of the plan and to review and refine the draft priorities as discussed during the first workshop. The workshop will also be used to review potential actions that could be included in the draft strategy. StrategyCorp will be hosting the meeting and leading Council through the discussions. The meeting is open to the public and will be recorded and posted on the Town’s website.
Following the second workshop, a final workshop with Council will be scheduled for this Fall, with the date and details announced in the coming weeks. The workshops are intended to be an open and free-flowing discussion for Council to brainstorm and discuss ideas, opportunities and community issues with each other. The Town will be hosting two public information sessions and additional community engagement in late Fall to provide an opportunity for residents to review the draft plan and to ask questions to Council members, senior staff and the project consultants ahead of the draft plan being presented to Council for formal approval.
“The Corporate Strategic Plan is an important document for The Blue Mountains,” said Mayor Andrea Matrosovs. “This is a vital step to get out into the community as we set a vision and priorities for the Town. My fellow Council members and I are looking forward to the opportunity to take these meetings out of Town Hall and into the public.”
A staff report with a detailed project update will be presented to Council at the September 15, 2025, Committee of the Whole meeting. Details will be posted to the Town website and project webpage when available.
