The Town of The Blue Mountains Fire Department is pleased to welcome the community to their Annual Open House on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Thornbury Fire Hall – 496916 Grey Road 2.
The event will kick off Fire Prevention Week 2026 and feature activities for the whole family, including a free BBQ, bouncy castle and slide, fire truck displays and opportunities to meet firefighters and learn about fire safety. Fire extinguisher training will also be available, with attendees able to sign up at the Fire Prevention table during the Open House. Sparky the Fire Dog will be on hand for a special birthday celebration and cake, and attendees can enter a draw for the chance to be “Fire Chief for a Day.”
The National Fire Protection Association’s Fire Prevention Week runs from October 4-10, 2026. This year's theme, “Charge Into Fire Safety™. Safe Charging Is a Superpower”, focuses on the everyday charging habits that can help reduce the risk of lithium-ion battery fires and keep homes and communities safer.
