On Thursday, November 25, 2021, the Town of The Blue Mountains welcomed My Friend’s House to raise the flag of Courage at Town Hall in recognition of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
The International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women also marks the beginning of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, which takes place every year from November 25th to December 10th and provides an opportunity to come together as a community to call out, speak up and renew our commitment to end gender-based violence.
“We as a community, remain committed to ending gender-based violence and building a future in which everyone has a real and fair chance at success,” says Mayor Alar Soever. “We thank survivors, women’s rights advocates, and community organizations, like My Friend’s House, for their exceptional courage and hard work in the fight against ending gender-based violence, and we thank the frontline workers who have continued to ensure victims and survivors receive the support services they need throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.”
