Press Releases

The Town of The Blue Mountains is pleased to announce the return of the 2nd annual Volunteer Recognition Awards event happening on Saturday, April 22, 2023 in celebration of National Volunteer Recognition Week.

The Town's annual Volunteer Recognition Awards event aims to celebrate and honour outstanding residents, community groups and organizations who work to enhance the quality of life in The Blue Mountains.

To support the Volunteer Recognition Awards event, the Town is seeking applications, in the form of letters of interest, from members of the public for appointment to the Volunteer Recognition Awards Sub-Committee. The Volunteer Awards Selection Committee will be responsible for reviewing and evaluating the submitted nominations and selecting the winner(s) for each of the award categories.

Applicants are encouraged to include background information and any special qualifications or interest related to the Volunteer Recognition Awards Selection Committee. All applications should be submitted no later than Thursday, February 9, 2023, 1:00 pm to the Town Clerk.

About the Volunteer Awards Recognition Event

The nomination period for the Volunteer Recognition Awards event will be open from March 7, 2023 until March 21, 2023. Nominations can be submitted on the Town website by visiting the link below. All residents are encouraged to submit nominations for those individuals or groups that have made a significant contribution to our community. One individual award and one group award is available per category unless otherwise stated.

New this year, the Town has partnered with The Blue Mountains Seniors Network to host the event and to offer a community volunteer fair immediately following the awards presentations. The volunteer fair will feature various organizations and groups that are actively seeking new members and volunteers. The fair will be an excellent opportunity for residents to learn how to get involved and support the local community.
