The Town of The Blue Mountains is pleased to announce that the 2023 Volunteer Recognition Awards & Volunteer Fair event will be held this year on Saturday, April 22, as part of National Volunteer Recognition Week.
Launched in 2022, the Town's annual Volunteer Recognition Awards event aims to celebrate and honour outstanding residents, community groups and organizations who work to enhance the quality of life in The Blue Mountains.
The following individuals and organizations are the recipients of the 2023 Volunteer Recognition Awards:
- Arts and Culture Award: The Arts & Culture Council
- Sustainability Award: Kathryn Robson
- Sports and Recreation Award: Bruce King & Val Jones
- Good Neighbour Award: Bill Abbotts
- Blue Mountains Community Builder (Youth under 26): Calvin Bell
- Blue Mountains Community Builder (Adult 26+): Cathy Smart
- Outstanding Community Group Award: Beaver Valley Outreach
Volunteer Fair Information
This free event is an opportunity for groups to connect with local residents looking to volunteer in the community.
The Volunteer Fair runs from 12:00 p.m to 2:00 p.m., with light refreshments provided.
Awards Ceremony Information
The Awards Ceremony will be held at the Beaver Valley Community Centre on Saturday, April 22, beginning at 9:00 a.m. and running to 11:30 a.m. with a continental breakfast provided. As part of the Awards Ceremony, the Town will host a volunteer fair from 12 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided. Local community groups are invited to attend to meet with the public and discuss volunteer opportunities. The volunteer recognition program recognizes individual volunteers and community groups in a specific category for their contributions to the community. One individual award and one group award is available per category unless otherwise stated.
