Since 2007, supporters around the world have been switching off for Earth Hour each year. For 2026, people are encouraged to go beyond the switch off – and give an hour for Earth too. Anyone, anywhere can take part by spending 60 minutes doing something - anything - positive for our planet. You can reconnect with nature, learn more about the environment, help restore our planet, or inspire others to take action. As long as we each use one hour to make meaningful impact, we can create the Biggest Hour for Earth together! 

Join Council at the Craigleith Heritage Depot on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. for a Council Cafe. This free event is an opportunity for members of the public to have casual conversations with members of Council in the beautiful Craigleith Heritage Depot.

Light refreshments, including coffee, tea and snacks, will be provided.

No registration is required, and attendees can join the event at any time.

These free events will be informal, with no set agenda. Coffee, tea and light refreshments will be available, and attendees have the opportunity to talk with Council members. Members of the public are encouraged to attend, and registration is not required.

We’re finishing March Break with a Chocolate Finale! Kids will build their own decadent, no-bake dessert with layers of cookies, chocolate, and creamy goodness to take home and enjoy.

Who Dunnit? A March Break Mystery

Put on your detective hats—and maybe your aprons! This March Break, teams of three will not only crack clues and solve puzzles but also follow “recipe-style” hints to uncover secrets and solve a mysterious case. Think teamwork, problem-solving, and lots of “aha!” moments as you mix together logic, observation, and a dash of creativity to figure out who dunnit.

Join us for a sweet March Break activity as we make an easy, no-bake cheesecake. Kids will mix, layer, and decorate their own creamy creation to take home and enjoy with their family.

Start March Break on a sweet note!
Ashley from Purdy Cakes will be at the L.E. Shore Library to show kids how to whip up silky-smooth buttercream from scratch, mix bold, vibrant colours, and decorate cupcakes bursting with personality and flair.

Are you looking for feedback on the paintings you’re currently working on, or those you may have given up on?

Look no further: on Saturday, March 14, bring your pieces to the Gallery at the L.E. Shore Library and have them critiqued by local art teacher, Michelle Fleming! Michelle will provide feedback on your work, identifying strengths and areas for improvement.

Have you ever looked up at the night sky and wondered where all the stars have gone? Light pollution is growing every year, affecting our night skies, wildlife, and even our daily lives.
Join local astronomer Chris Vaughan—the Geo Astro Guy and a Royal Astronomical Society of Canada (RASC) member—for a fun, all-ages talk about light pollution and how smarter lighting can help protect the night while keeping us safe. Learn simple things you can do at home and in your community to make a difference.

With the support of the Thornbury-Clarksburg Rotary Club and other community organizations, the Town plans to revitalize Moreau Park in Thornbury. Proposed elements include a new skate park for all ages and abilities, a year-round walking path, new plantings and an accessible playground. Come see the preliminary designs, ask questions and provide feedback at our Design Open House.

Join staff at the L.E. Shore Public Library for a special Story Time celebrating friendship and love! We’ll read delightful books about hearts, kindness, and friendship, followed by a sweet treat. We’ll wrap up our love-filled Story Time with some cookie decorating fun!
