Construction Notice - Arthur Street West Municipal Parking Lot

Maintenance / Service Disruptions

On behalf of the Town of The Blue Mountains, WT Infrastructure Solutions Inc. has completed the design and engineering for the Arthur Street West Municipal Parking Lot in Thornbury. The project has been tendered and awarded to E.C. King Contracting, a division of Miller Paving Limited. Construction is anticipated to begin the week of May 2, 2022. Construction activity will be occurring on Lot 15 and 17 on Arthur Street West, west of the TD Bank property.

Project Scope

  • Construction of a new municipal parking lot (52 parking spaces) including accessible parking and conduit for electrical vehicle charging stations.
  • Landscaping and lighting consistent with the local area.
  • Stormwater management systems to provide stormwater treatment prior to discharge of runoff.

What To Expect

Work will begin with necessary tree removals in accordance with the Migratory Birds Convention Act, and the demolition of the structure in the south corner of the property. You may experience traffic delays and temporary lane restrictions on Arthur Street, and minor dust, noise, vibrations and other inconveniences in the immediate area bordering the site during construction. The Town will make efforts to reduce the impacts and appreciates your patience.

Works will be occurring within Town property. Should you have any concerns during construction, please contact the Field Ambassador. 

The Town will not be responsible for damage to any privately owned items on Town property.

Work Hours

Work will take place Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Work after hours and on weekends will be completed as required, and additional notice will be provided to neighbouring properties prior to any deviation from the normal working hours. 

Road and Sidewalk Access

In order to complete the work in a safe manner, there will be temporary restrictions on the road, sidewalk and traffic lane within the construction work zone. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Traffic Management

Minor traffic delays may occur within the construction zone when active construction is occurring. Longer delays may occur when restoration work is taking place 

Restoration

The construction work area will be restored to pre-existing conditions including laying of sod, hydroseed or asphalt where required. Laying of sod will be done as needed during ideal growing seasons only.

Additional Information

The project will mostly be contained within the site limits except for final connections to the storm sewer on Arthur Street; however there will be construction traffic in and out of the site throughout construction including minor queuing on Arthur Street.
