The Town of The Blue Mountains would like to inform the public of an overflow that has occurred at the Margaret Sewage Pumping Station located at 101 Margaret Drive in Craigleith. The overflow was a result of both the extended power outage and the failure of the dialer to notify the Town's On-Call Operator. The Margaret Sewage Pumping Station has onsite emergency storage, however this overflowed into the ditch north of the holding tank.
The Town’s Wastewater Operators have performed sampling to ensure the overflowed wastewater is within normal quality limits under the Town’s Environmental Compliance Approval. A vacuum truck is onsite cleaning up the area of the spill. The Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks has been notified of the event, and a message has been left with Grey Bruce Public Health. Staff have no concerns about any threats to public health or environmental impacts.
