Proposed Update to Property Standards By-Law

Please Note: A Notice of Motion to discontinue the review and update of the Property Standards By-law, and to continue to enforce the current Property Standards By-law was introduced and passed by Council at their meeting on Monday, September 8.

By-law enforcement complaints can be submitted online 24/7 by visiting the online services page, by email, or by calling 519-599-3131 ext. 249.

The Property Standards By-law sets standards for maintenance and occupancy for properties within the Town of The Blue Mountains. All property owners are required to repair and maintain their property in accordance with this by-law. This includes yard conditions, parking areas, walks, driveways, accessory buildings, fences, and other structures.

Swimming Pools

Every swimming pool, as defined by the Swimming Pool Fence By-law, must be completely enclosed by a gated fence. A Swimming Pool Fence Permit is required prior to the installation of a pool. Please refer to the by-law and the Swimming Pool Fence Permit Guide to ensure that submitted Pool Fence Permit Applications are compliant.

Fence By-law

Fences on private properties do not require a permit but must comply with the Fence By-law regarding height, materials, etc.

Weed Control

Regulations regarding long grass and noxious weeds on residential properties within specific areas of the Town are outlined in the Long Grass and Noxious Weeds By-law.
