Partial Parking Lot Closure
A portion of the gravel parking lot at the Thornbury Pier will be closed beginning the week of June 8, 2026. This area is required for a storage and staging area by a subcontractor working on the installation of the new treated effluent outfall pipe for the Thornbury Wastewater Treatment Plant. The partial closure will remain in place until the completion of project. Public access to the Thornbury Pier will not be impacted by this closure.

Know Before You Go & Plan Ahead
Recreation is best enjoyed when you take the time to plan ahead. Before heading outdoors, please take the time to read the information below.
Hours of Operation
Hours of operation at recreation areas vary seasonally. It is strongly advised that you check the hours of operation and maps online for updates or changes, prior to arrival.
Parking Information
Parking areas at trailheads, beaches and public spaces are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Vehicles parking in violation of the Town's Parking By-law may be ticketed or towed. To better manage public parking throughout the community, the Town has implemented a paid parking program. All paid parking locations are clearly identified by signage. Residents of the Town of The Blue Mountains can register for a free annual parking permit that allows them to park for free at all Town-owned paid parking areas.
Anti-Littering By-law
The Town's natural environment is one of its most precious assets. A new anti-littering by-law has been implemented which allows municipal bylaw officers to charge monetary fines for litter and waste disposal infractions.
Pets
Pets must be leashed at all times in public areas. If you would like to have your dog off leash, please visit one of the Town's enclosed off-leash dog parks. Please remember to pick up after your pets and dispose of waste properly by either placing it in the receptacles provided or by packing it up and disposing of it properly at home.
Tents and BBQ's
The Town would like to remind the public that tents and barbecues are not permitted at any Town beach, park or trail area. The restriction on tents includes temporary sun shades. The only exception is single-pole umbrellas.
