Correction to Public Meeting Notice: December 2, 2025, Stop Up and Close Applications

Press Releases

The Town of The Blue Mountains would like to advise the public that an error was made in the print version of The Blue Mountains Review regarding the Public Meeting notice for two “Stop Up and Close” applications scheduled for December 2, 2025.

In the notice submitted to The Blue Mountains Reviewthe same project information appeared twice, and details for the second project were not included. The Town apologizes for any confusion this may have caused. The correct information is provided below.

Two Public Meetings, both related to Stop Up and Close applications, will be held on December 2, 2025, beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Stop Up and Close Portion of Alta Road – Unopened Road Allowance
Alta Phase 2 is located north of the Alta Phase 1 lands and south of Hidden Lake Road. Through the approval of the Alta Phase 1 subdivision, a full-length road allowance was dedicated to the Town for the future extension of Alta Road.

Alta Phase 2 has received Draft Plan Approval from the Ontario Land Tribunal, which proposes alternative locations for the future internal public streets. As a result, land dedication of the original road allowance from the Town back to the developer is required to allow for final registration of the plan and for the developer to dedicate new public streets to the Town in their revised locations.

Stop Up and Close Portion of 15th Sideroad – Unopened Road Allowance
The Town has received a request from the Bruce Trail Conservancy to consider “Stopping up and Closing” a portion of the 15th Sideroad in the Town of The Blue Mountains.

The Bruce Trail Conservancy is interested in acquiring a portion of the 15th Sideroad unopened road allowance to secure a portion of the Bruce Trail Optimum Route, and to allow for the construction of a staircase to facilitate rerouting of the Trail. The purpose is to secure a safer and more pleasant hiking experience for Bruce Trail users while helping to avoid any potential land use conflicts.
