The Town of The Blue Mountains has received an application for a Road Allowance Purchase related to the Blue Birch project. The application proposes to “stop up and close” a portion of the Railway Street unopened road allowance, with the intent to transfer some or all of the land to the landowner to the east for driveway access to Railway Street/Barclay Boulevard.
A Public Meeting to consider the application will take place on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at 9:30 a.m., both in person at Town Hall and virtually via Microsoft Teams.

The proposal recognizes two potential building lots in the southwest and northeast corners of the property. The subject lands are currently vacant.
It is noted that Huron Wendat Nation and Saugeen Ojibway Nation have been consulted for this project, but no Archeological Assessment has been completed. A Holding Provision is proposed to be placed on the entire subject lands prohibiting development or site alteration until such a time as an Archeological Assessment has been completed, to the satisfaction of both First Nations.
On March 20, 2025, the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) issued a decision on the appeal of the previously rejected Zoning By-law Amendment (ZBA) application for Blue Birch. As a result of the Appeal process, the Tribunal has granted the appeal in part and approved the ZBA.
The Town has received a request to consider “Stopping up and Closing” a portion of the Railway Street unopened road allowance. The purpose of the application is to consider the transfer of some or all of the portion of Railway Street to the landowner to the east. The lands would be used for a driveway(s) to provide direct access and frontage to the open and maintained portions of Railway Street / Barclay Boulevard.
This request is connected to the former zoning by-law amendment application for Blue Birch. The Ontario Land Tribunal’s settlement decision on that application contemplated providing access to the lands from Railway Street.
A Public Meeting to consider the Road Allowance Purchase application will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at 9:30 a.m.
